B Root
The B-Root Domain-Name Server is operated the University of Southern California by the Networking and Cybersecurity Division at the Information Sciences Institute working with USC’s Information Technology Services.
B Root provides root DNS service at 199.9.14.201 (IPv4) and 2001:500:200::b (IPv6), operating as b.root-servers.net. We operate from several points-of-presence around the world.
B Root is operated as a public service to the Internet. As a research university, we also support research.
USC/ISI has provided root DNS service since the inception of the DNS in 1987 (more history).
